The
physician will focus on your immediate medical
problem.
Our Urgent Care is not equipped the same as a hospital
emergency room. Therefore, patients with a major
medical emergency or a health problem with a life
threatening nature should go directly to the hospital
emergency room. Examples include chest pain, stroke
symptoms, excessive bleeding and shortness of
breath.
Should
I come to Urgent Care for all of my regular health
care needs?
Urgent Care should be reserved for special situations.
It is not the appropriate site for preventive
care or ongoing health care needs such as physical
exams, immunizations, pre-natal care, geriatric
care, chronic illnesses and follow-up visits.
Instead, these services should be provided by
your personal physician in Family Practice, Internal
Medicine, Med/Peds, Pediatrics or Obstetrics and
Gynecology.
We
encourage you to continue seeing your personal
physician whenever possible by making an appointment.
Establishing and maintaining an ongoing patient-doctor
relationship with the personal physician of your
choice at CPMG helps to ensure continuity of care
with better coordination of services, and it will
cost you somewhat less. Making an appointment
also enables your personal physician to review
your medical history in developing a comprehensive
medical treatment plan.
Who
provides the medical services for Urgent Care?
Services
are provided by CPMG's established primary care
physicians and occasionally by resident physicians
or others. CPMG's Family Practice specialists
in Urgent Care are well-suited to take care of
your urgent medical problems. The Urgent Care
physicians also have a wide range of other specialists
available to them for consultation and referral
as needed.
Certified
lab and x-ray services are located on-site, staffed
by skilled laboratory technicians and radiographers.
Together with caring registered nurses and medical
assistants, the entire CPMG staff is dedicated
to meeting your health care needs.
What
is the cost for UrgentCare?
Our Urgent Care is much less expensive than a
typical visit to the hospital emergency room,
and usually less time consuming.
The
exact cost for Urgent Care will depend on the
complexity of your medical problem and the lab
and x-ray services required for diagnosis.
