Sclerotherapy
What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a procedure where chemicals are injected into spider veins and small varicose veins to seal off damaged veins in order to make them "invisible." Once the procedure has been completed, it takes approximately 2-3 weeks for the veins to start fading. The length of time it takes for veins to become completely invisible varies for each patient, but is usually between 8-12 weeks.
Why would someone want to have Sclerotherapy?
Some patients sign up for Sclerotherapy because they have painful spider or varicose veins. Other patients sign up for Sclerotherapy for cosmetic reasons.
Is Sclerotherapy painful?
Some patients experience a slight stinging or burning sensation just as the chemical is injected into the skin, butusually it is so minimal that often nothing is felt.
How do I sign up to get Sclerotherapy?
Before scheduling Sclerotherapy you must first have a surgical consult appointment with Dr. Peter Halvorson, one of our General Surgeons. After your consult, if you and Dr. Halvorson both feel Sclerotherapy is the best treatment option for you, our surgical staff will help you schedule an appoingment.
